The Art of Creativity
Albert Einstein said, "Creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else ever thought." I agree! But it's also a gift that begs for daily appreciation and cultivation.
How does an extroverted, right-brained person like me look at a plain white canvas daily, year after year, and envision a unique thing of beauty on every piece?
I practice daily appreciation and cultivation. Let me explain.
How to Pursue Creativity
1. Recognize, pursue, and give thanks for the gifts bestowed upon you by a loving, wildly creative God and use them well. (This includes all the arts - poetry, drama, writing, painting, drawing, sculpture, dance, etc.)
2. Read and study the masters. (Many artists share their techniques and expertise on YouTube)
3. Allow your budget room for purchasing the essential materials to be creative. (Sometimes, a tube of Cerulean Blue takes precedence over a Friday night date.)
4. Look for the mundane and enhance what you see with your creativity.
(My painting, Hay Bales, is the perfect example. The photographer, a friend, saw more than the mundane in hay bales and snapped a photo. I saw his picture, felt the light, and envisioned the warm colors of fall and had to paint it.)
5. Practice, practice, practice!
